leo shares a process of vocal improvisation and somatic sounding influenced by Southeast Asian devotional practices, Deep Listening, and a critical approach to the western European operatic voice, while talking about the distinction between form (shape), intention, colonial histories, heritage, and the lack thereof. Often sustaining prolonged sounds, silences, breath, and bodily noises, this work explores the impact of these elements on practitioners and listeners.

in practice are excerpts of leo’s daily work with music recomposition for voice as part of their multimedia opera “Just Another Shadie Bitch.” Through vocal improvisation influenced by the work of Samita Sinha (artist and composer based in New York, US) and a critical approach to the operatic voice, leo dismembers and reorganizes the structure of songs. For the Sommerfest 2022 at Akademie Schloss Solitude, leo shares this process using the song “I Put a Spell on You” by Screamin Jay Hawkins as the base for a performance.
